Prof Zafar Iqbal : A culprit Professor?

All over the world, a University Professor is evaluated with his research activities. A professor’s main duties are to create knowledge through extensive research, publishing papers in reputed journals, doing research projects and making patents.

After joining as a professor in Computer Science & Engineering Department of Computer Science & Engineering, University of Science & Technology, Bangladesh what research activities has been done by Prof Zafar Iqbal?

One can search in google/internet writing his name for his publications and other things. His research papers/achievements are found rarely (actually NOT FOUND). And even his department’s website of CSE, SUST Prof Z Iqbal’s CV does not contain any research activities. Shocking – Isn’t it?

Though he is one of most popular writers in Bangladesh, he is not performing his obligatory duties to his professorship. This is a complete dishonesty to his profession and is a highest order corruption.

In recent past, Bangladesh Govt made some anti corruption steps and in the process some top order politician were put in Jail. If we agree (for sake of debate) that those political leaders has done corruption and misused the power… then same allegation can be formed for Prof Zafar Iqbal. Only difference is that he (prof Iqbal) has no scope of doing million dollars money corruption as political leaders.

But what he is doing is the most of his level of corruption as a professor.

In Bangladesh, there are some good scientists who have got far more high profile and research activities than Prof Zafar Iqbal. One example is Prof Zamal Nazrul Islam who is considered to be top TEN scientists in the world at moment.

Even Prof M. Kaykobad of BUET has got far more research activities than Prof Zafar Iqbal. Prof Kaykobad’s CV shows his research paper (while Prof Iqbal’s CV has not mentioned it even. Being Professor, he even ignores the importance of it. What a pity!)

To conclude, Prof Zafar Iqbal always gives advice to others in his writings. We don’t want this kind of writings from a culprit professor. Let’s start protesting against all sort corruptions including intellectual one by Prof Zafar Iqbal.
